Award in Education and Training AET Teaching Qualification

Start learning for just £49!  Pay your deposit and your first unit will be emailed to you.  No previous experience required.

The AET (Award in Education and Training) has replaced the previous PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) qualification. It is used for those wishing to teach in the 19+ age group, within further education, colleges, workplaces etc.  It is not subject specific, so students can move on to teach anything they are qualified in, not just beauty or nails!

This qualification will give you the required skills and knowledge to teach including: preparation, planning, course design, delivery skills, assessment and evaluation skills.

There are no formal entry requirements although a good standard of literacy and numeracy is required.

Module List

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Understanding assessment in education and training

This course is comprised of three units which are assessed via written assignments:

Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
Understanding assessment in education and training

Followed by a one hour micro-teach – putting into practise all the skills that have been learnt, teaching a group of students any subject you choose, showing how the lesson has been planned, individual learner needs have been met, ensuring learning has taken place, using resources and equipment and various teaching methods.

Students receive the learning materials via email.  These learning materials are supplied by Ann Gravells, one of the leading writers for education text books.  Assignment questions are then answered and sent for feedback.  When ready students can apply to carry out their microteach, teaching for an hour on any subject they choose.  This can be completed at our training centres in Ashford or Dover, or online through Zoom or Facetime if students are not local.

There is no time limit to this course, students can work at their own pace with constant support.

The price of the course is £395 and is either payable in full and one unit will be emailed at a time on completion.  Or a deposit of £49 and the first unit will be emailed.  The balance of the course will be due as soon as an assignment is returned for marking.  This course is accredited through TQUK, qualification number 601/1831/3
